An historic music video for contemporary gothic suspense, "The House on Black Lake" is scheduled for release late September, 2011.

Aptly titled "Dangerous Shadows", the stylistic video depicts a dramatic scene from the novel. The video opens with a woman being chased through lush landscape as she seeks to escape hooded figures in preparation for what appears to be a pagan ritual, and climaxes with a stunning trapeze act. The piece was filmed by award winning cinematographer Frazer Bradshaw. An evocative orchestral composition with heavy percussion, by Russian filmmaker/music composer Andrew Oudet, lends tension, foreboding, emotional resonance, and effectively stands on its own as downloadable dance or background music.

The video was shot at renowned philosopher/author Sam Keen’s Sky Ranch in Sonoma. Trapeze rig featured is a permanent fixture on the property and home to Trapeze Pro, a prominent Bay Area circus skills school. Professional performers Marek Kaszuba, Tanya Hoover, Keith Hoover, Jake Minkoff, and John Arnst are featured in the flying sequences. In addition, unique, never before performed trapeze tricks, including "The Heroine’s Journey", were created as part of choreography by trapeze trapeze duo Hoover/Kaszuba for interpretation of the novel’s climactic scene.

Author/actress Anastasia Blackwell produced, directed, and performs in video. The ground breaking piece joins a trailer she created for her debut novel, as well as videos and teasers featuring original photography, sound design, and spoken word.

Time will tell if the unique idea will spread to indie authors and publishing houses and create a new genre of music and means of promotion for literature. The potential appears unlimited, with millions of books lining shelves of libraries and online catalogues worldwide, languidly waiting for an infusion of life.

Although Alexandra Brighton takes the trip to the exclusive enclave of summer homes outside Montreal on her own volition, to find resolution to her obession with charismatic Ramey Sandeley, she does not initially realize there is no way out. By the time she recognizes there are sinister forces at work she is essentially kidnapped and forced to confront the dark forces at play within the shadows of the lake, and well as inside her own heart. In the end Alexandra must must make a dramatic personal transformation is she is to survive.

Crazy, jealous, obsessive scene from The House on Black Lake.

The House on Black Lake teems with jealousy and obsession.  World-weary Alexandra Brighton travels with son Samuel to visit the man who has haunted her heart for years. She seeks resolution to an obsession that has brought her former life to ruin. But the fire is only stoked by charismatic Ramey Sandeley. Ramey is a man who has never heard the word "no" and expects life to give him everything he desires.

But he has never tasted the drug of love or any desire beyond the physical. The feelings awakened in him by Alexandra are twisted to jealous rage when he learns she has given herself to seductive young French artist Andre Labat.  When she returns to the house he confronts her and threatens to administer a whipping for her discretion. This is only the beginning of a battle of wills that will lead the couple to the edge of destruction and threaten the safety of those caught in their orbit.

An obscure new book by an unknown indie author is set for a major breakout. Beautiful Disaster by Jamie Mcguire is a simple tale, the story of a good girl and a bad boy.

Jamie McGuire was raised in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and now resides in Enid, Oklahoma with her two  daughters. The author began her writing career in 2009 when she finished the first  of the Providencence series (young adult paranormal) in eleven weeks.

Ms. McGuire, like Stephanie Myers, author of Twilight series, has struck an immediate and deep cord with readers. The cover of Beautiful Disaster  has created quite a controversy, but it is the tattooed bad boy Travis that has thrust the novel to the top of book and e-book sellers lists.

All three of the central male characters in [amazon_link id="0982500203" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]The House on Black Lake[/amazon_link] sport tattoos. Charismatic Ramey Sandeley  has "In One Man Lie All the Mysteries of the Universe" in ancient script across the high arch of his perfectly formed backside. Ramey's cousin, Georgie LaPointe, the decadent Montreal rock god, has an intricate tribal band encircling his immense triceps. And sensuous French artist Andre Labat has a vicious rattler inked up his arm. There is also a tattooed and pierced Oriana, who has a taste for both sexes and hidden rooms in the back of her Old Montreal salon where taboos are broken by discreet adults.

In a dream sequence (or perhaps a look into her future) protagonist Alexandra Brighton dreams she is tied to a four poster and about to receive a branding of her lover's initials as part of her wedding ceremony. The finality of the ceremony will have her branding the groom in turn, followed by consummation of their unbreakable vows. A ring may be removed - but a branding is forever. Alexandra has lived her life as "the good girl", the perfect daughter, wife, and mother. But society does not reward her efforts as she seeks freedom from a suffocating marriage. She is about to turn "bad" and the trio of men will aid in her journey to self actualization.

Tender, vulnerable words, and the expression of  "I love you" are powerful when spoken by a man for the first time. This is especially true of a powerful alpha male.

Later Ramey recants his statement and exclaims that he doesn't believes loves exists, it's only nature's way of assuring reproduction. Yet, Alexandra will not accept this definition. She believes we feel love because we wish to create, not replicate. Their struggle to resolve  feelings will lead both to the brink of destruction, and to experience a powerful new emotion, neither has ever  felt.
