When Alexandra Brighton enters Black Lake she only knows what she has been taught by contemporary society. The lessons she learns in the underground teach her about her deeper desires and instincts. Some of the topics are a bit disturbing, but I think we all just want to reconnect with our baser animal instincts and enjoy the powerful union between the sexes. Playfulness is the key!

There is something quite alluring about a deserted island. Experienced with the right partner it is possible to live out fantasies, unite with nature, do whateveryou desire, and no one will know. Yet there is always the risk of danger that resides within the island. The creatures that inhabit the lonely piece of land may not be friendly. And there is no way to escape if you lose communication, means of transport, or someone wants to keep you prisoner.
That is what Alexandra faces as she is lured by the Sandeley's to stay in a Victorian on a deserted island. Initially she is terrified of the house, the isolation, and her lack of conrol over the situation. When she is taken to revisit the site by young lover, Andre, her moment of seduction is at first alluring and romantic, but turns deadly.
World weary and longing for simplicity we may fantasize about such a habitat. But is the romantic notion a desire to free ourselves from the confines of civilization? Or is it a deeper desire - to escape the confines of ourselves and release our baser, more animalistic natures
?

The day we shot the scenes in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco was absolutely gorgeous. Normally in April it is cold and windy, but it was hot. I had the honour of being rowed by gorgeous super model Tosh Yanez across the lake. It was the perfect backdrop to film the scene of Andre rowing Alexandra out to revisit the house on the island.
Rowboats can be rented seven days a week, all year. I recommend it as a romantic interlude. The scenery is stunning. It truly makes you feel like you are in your own romance novel. It's wonderful to fall in love, if only for the day.
Many have told me they believe "The House on Black Lake" is a ""Twilight "for adult fans of the popular books and movies. And, perhaps this is true. My book is about an obsessive love, a devious antagonist and the lure of another equally beautiful specimen. It is unclear what powers Ramey Sandeley, Georgie La Pointe and Andre Labat possess, if they bite or inhibit Alexandra's soul in ways that have not yet been explored. But, clearly Alexandra is "taken" by these men, betrayed and transformed. In the music video of the book, many are certain they seen between the pictures, and that she indeed has been bitten and transformed.
Transformation is a cruelly painful and ecstatic process. It drains the old blood and infuses new. We can all experience this, if we choose to take the path that passion lays down and open ourselves to receive the gift from others.
Are the men in the book vampires - blood suckers - or infusers? You be the judge - either way Alexandra , like Bella, will be entering a different realm at book's end.
