The Chamber of Curiosities Podcast

‘The night of the blue moon’ is a rare event. The townspeople and visitors to Tressaria throng to the carnival, staged in an ancient fortress overlooking a vibrant seaport. But, not everyone is free to join the revelry. Darné Veskka, stands at the bars of a cage consumed by loneliness. In the late hours aerialist, Clare Dupree, breaks inside - armed with a razor and obsession. Her quest is to shave off his beard to see his face. The giant who has never felt a woman’s touch, threatens her - but ultimately succumbs. And, their pact marks the dawn of a new age in Tressaria, and plants the seed of revolution.

The dark fantasy is set in the fictional seaport, where ‘Coin is King’ and citizens pawns to whims of their debauched rulers. Mr. Beedro’s Carnival is a lucrative business, with games, flying shows, equestrian acts, feasts, flesh and alcohol for sale. The Freak Show lies at its heart and is a pleasant distraction for citizens, sailors, and visiting traders to gloat over those less unfortunate. It is here the giant of a man, Darné Veskka, billed as The Human Beast, lives in a cage with other ‘mistakes of nature’.

Ian Somerhalder's "Empoweresque" Features Trapeze Artists From "The House on Black Lake" Music Video

Trapeze artists featured in "Dangerous Shadows" music video are scheduled as featured performers for actor Ian Somerhalder's "Empoweresque" fund raiser in Atlanta on October 29th, 2011. Tanya Hoover, Keith Hoover, and Marek Kaszuba will perform static trapeze, incorporating unique choreography from music video.

Somerhalder, a popular actor best known for his performances in "Lost and "The Vampire Diaries",  created the Ian Somerhalder Foundation to empower, educate and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its creatures.

The fundraiser will be held at The Opera, a lovely historic Atlanta, Georgia building. The theme of the soiree is awakening the unique powers of women.

Empoweresque is a celebration...

An awakening of the uniqueness and power within women.
If you think being sexy is akin to throwing on a pair of heels, think again...
It's about the woman within knowing that SHE has the power to change the world.

It's not what you look like.
It's not about your size, age, colour or faith.
It's who you ARE.
It’s your passion, your strength and your ability to inspire and lead change not just within yourself, but within others.
It's about awakening your divine femininity and becoming an "Empoweress."

This awakening within yourself will forever change you, and uniting empowered women will forever change the world.
Historically, we've seen phenomenal female change makers. These women "stand up and stand out", but why must they stand up as ONE woman when we can "stand up & stand out" together to radically transform the world as one UNITED divine force?
What are you waiting for?

Venue Details: Opera’s lavish style, combined with Victorian décor, makes it one of the most unique venues in the country. Opera features three environments: The Opera House (Main Room), Cabana and the Venetian Room. Both sides of Opera have been very successful, especially this past year. Trapeze Pro Sonoma

A quest to fulfill a lifelong dream of performing the flying trapeze led me to Trapeze Pro Sonoma. The school is situated on magical Sky Ranch, which is owned by reknowned author, professor and philosopher, Sam Keen. The school is run by Marek Kaszuba, who is a world class trapeze and circus arts instructor, who has had students go on to careers at Cirque du Soleil and Ringling Brothers. I visited the school a number of times as I wrote "The House on Black Lake". The ranch will soon be the site of a music video incorporating static and flying trapeze with Marek and Tanya Hoover with new song "Dangerous Games" by Peter Busboon.
It is a spiritual experience to fly like a bird and be caught by a man in mid air. I recommend it to everyone, no matter your age, physical strength, or flexibility.

Give The Gift of Immortality To A Loved One This Christmas

Christmases come and go, and we rarely remember what we received the previous your, although at the time each gift seemed very important. This year you will have the opportunity to give a gift to a loved one that will last forever.  The Gift?  Their name featured in a published novel.

The First Amendment Project has come up with the unique idea of auctioning the opportunity to have your name, or the name of a friend or loved one, immortalized in a soon to be completed novel.

The auction is a benefit for First Amendment Project, the Oakland, CA-based nonprofit organization that provides free legal services on public interest free speech and free press issues.

In addition to the character name, the winning bidder in the “Weeds” auction will receive a signed copy of the pilot script, the box set of DVDs of the first five seasons of the series and a “Weeds” baseball cap. Among the other opportunities available at the auction, which can be found at http://3.ly/fapauction include the chance to be an FBI agent or a stripper with a heart of gold in the next entry in Suzanne Brockmann’s Troubleshooters series; a villain or a victim in Thomas Perry’s next entry in the Jane Whitefield series, a wounded World War I soldier or drunken Bohemian in Andrew Sean Greer’s next novel, as a character in a new musical by Janet Burroway, or a character in a cartoon series by Ben Katchor, Chris Ware or T Campbell. Young adult authors Dan Gutman and Kevin J. Anderson are offering character names in the next entries in their Baseball Card Adventures and Star Challengers series, respectively.

I have offered the opportunity to run away and join the circus in my new novel "The Chamber of Curiosities". The love story between a freak show giant and a beautiful young trapeze artist is set in a deserted bastion overlooking a seaport in a mysterious land. The winner bidder will not only have a character named after them, they will be alllowed to determine personal details and relationship to other characters.
This is the third character name auction for First Amendment Project. The first two auctions, held in 2005 and 2006, earned over $170,000 for the organization.
